About THE AJPA
Australian Jigsaw Puzzle Association
The Australian Jigsaw Puzzle Association (AJPA) is a non-profit incorporated association run entirely by puzzle-loving volunteers. The AJPA is registered in Western Australia, and governed by its constitution.
Our Mission
Our mission is to bring the jigsaw puzzle community of Australia together. Every year, the AJPA runs six state jigsaw competitions and one national event. We also support the South Australia state competition.
We are the Australian branch of the World Jigsaw Puzzle Federation.
Our Committee
The AJPA is run by a management committee of five members and several subcommittees with about 20 members.
The management committee for 2026 includes:
- Louise Jackett – President (pictured here!)
- Sara Colombini – Vice President
- Elke Hansen – Treasurer
- Keelie Reader – Secretary
- Cristina Cascon – Ordinary Member and Volunteer Coordinator
Our story
The AJPA was set up in 2020 by D’Arne Healy after an inspiring trip to the World Jigsaw Puzzle Championships in Spain.
In 2021, the AJPA hosted it’s first competition in Western Australia, then a second in Queensland. The first national event took place in 2022 with two divisions and about 300 participants.
Fast forward to Nationals in 2025… ~850 participants enjoyed solos, pairs and teams, with two rounds of solo qualifiers for 600 puzzlers.
D’Arne stepped down in early 2025 and we transitioned to a new leadership team to continue D’Arne’s legacy of bringing the jigsaw community of Australia together.
