National Jigsaw Puzzle Championships 2024 event information
The Australian National Jigsaw Puzzle Championships 2024 (affectionately referred to as ‘Nationals’) will take place on Saturday 7 December 2024 at the State Sport Centre – MSAC in Melbourne.
Prizes
The top three winners in each category (solo, pairs and teams) will take home a Ravensburger puzzle. The winner of the solo category will win a return flight to Spain to represent Australia at the World Jigsaw Puzzle Championships. This prize is non transferable, must be used in 2025 and is up to a maximum value of $2,500.
Raffle prizes and spot prizes are also available on the day, including prizes for best costume.

Nationals is located in the MSAC Arena, which is located to the left of the main entrance on the Aughtie Drive side of the venue (see map below).
Registration
When you arrive at the event, head to registration to get your table number. Registration opens about one hour before each division. You must be seated at least 10 minutes before the competition start time. If you can no longer attend, please let us know as soon as possible.
You will have an allocated table at this event. If you have accessibility needs, please let us know as soon as possible before the event so we can assign you a table that meets your needs.
You will find your time slip on your table. When you sit down, please verify that all names and state details are correct. You must let us know if something needs to be updated as we cannot make changes to the system after logging your time.
Timetable
- 8am – 9am: Doors open and registration
- 9am – 11am: Pairs competition
- 11am – 11.30 am: Pairs prize presentation
- 12pm – 2pm: Teams competition
- 2pm – 2.30pm: Teams prize presentation
- 3pm – 6pm: Solo competition
- 6pm – 6.30pm: Solo prize presentation
Getting to the venue
Public transport
Two tram routes drop you at MSAC:
- Route 96 (East Brunswick to St Kilda Beach) – Stop 129
- Route 12 (City to South Melbourne/St Kilda) – Stop 131
Parking
Parking for MSAC Stadiums is available all day in the MSAC Stadiums Carpark, at the southern end of MSAC, accessed from Aughtie Drive. On weekends, the first hour of parking is free, then $6 an hour with a maximum rate of $12. Contactless payment upon exit only.

Raffle and merch: There will be a raffle and AJPA merchandise on sale. Bring your AJPA membership card for 20% off merch.
Pop-up shop: Metro Hobbies will be running a pop-up shop for all your puzzling needs.
Spot prizes: We encourage you to dress up or have a theme for yourself, your pair and/or team as prizes are up for grabs for best dressed in each division.
Pick up your membership pack: New and renewing members can pick up their membership pack on the day, saving $15 on postage.
Refreshments: The Sir Albert Cafe will be open at main reception. A second cafe, the Aquatics Reception Cafe may also be open and is located across from the Multi Deck Carpark. It’s a 10-minute walk to Bridport Street where there are various food and drink options. If you’re competing in all three events, you might consider bringing a pre-packed lunch.

Tickets are available from Eventbrite. If you are adding yourself to the waitlist, please specify which type of ticket you are looking for after your name (e.g. Emily Smith PAIRS).
